Full-Time Faculty Position

Department of History, National Chengchi University

Research field: World history (with a preference for European history)

Rank: Open rank (assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor)

Application Deadline: September 5, 2023

Anticipated Start Date: February 1, 2024 or August 1, 2024

Qualifications:

1. A PhD in history or a related field of study.
2. A record of academic work published within five years of the time of application, such as peer-reviewed articles or academic monographs (for forthcoming publications, please provide a letter from the journal or publisher confirming that the work has been accepted for publication).
3. A working knowledge of Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
4. The successful candidate must fulfill university requirements for re-appointment and work toward promotion to the next academic rank within 6-8 years after hiring.

Required application materials:

1. CV (including a list of publications).
2. Research plan.
3. Copy of doctoral diploma (or letter from the university confirming successful dissertation defense) and graduate transcripts.
4. Copy of PhD dissertation, MA dissertation, and other academic publications
5. Chinese-language abstract of a “representative work” (which may be a PhD dissertation or another publication of the candidate’s choosing).
6. List of 2-3 potential courses (including course titles and course descriptions or syllabi); at least one course should be suitable for an introductory-level general education class to be taken by students from outside the history department.
