Full-Time Faculty Position - Department of History
One Position: World History, Asian History, Chinese History (specialties open)
Open rank – assistant professor, associate professor, or professor
1) Doctorate in history or related field of studies.
2) Candidates must have academic work(s) published within 5 years at time of application. This can either be a book published by an academic or equivalent non-vanity press (with verification letter from publisher about peer review process) or peer-reviewed articles(s) in an academic journal.
3) Non-native Chinese-language speakers – working knowledge of Mandarin Chinese preferred.
4) The newly appointed person must fulfill university requirements for re-appointment and must work towards promotion to the next level of ranking within 6 to 8 years upon starting at the university.
Required application materials:
doctoral diploma (or letter from dean’s office showing successful defense before July 31, 2020); dissertation and master’s thesis, and other writing sample (with Chinese abstract of representative work); doctoral and master’s degree transcripts; curriculum vitae; list of publications; research plan; proposed courses to teach and sample syllabi (at least two classes); Ministry of Education teacher certificate (if applicable); foreign degrees must be authenticated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROC (Taiwan).
Please provide either (1) electronic files stored on a CD or USB drive, or (2) paper documents (one copy each, and 3 copies of dissertation and master’s thesis). Application documents will not be returned.
Application materials must be delivered to NCCU by July 31, 2020. Anticipated starting date for appointment is August 2021.
Applicants who reach the second-round will be interviewed on campus. NCCU will not cover travel expenses.
