Qualifications:
A PhD in history or a related field of study.
An academic article, monograph, or any other type of peer-reviewed scholarly work that has been published or has been accepted for publication within the past five years (for forthcoming publications, please provide a letter from the journal or publisher confirming that the work has been accepted).
A working knowledge of Mandarin Chinese.
The successful candidate must also be willing to fulfill university requirements for re-appointment and to work toward promotion to the next academic rank within six to eight years after their appointment.
Required application materials:
A copy of the candidate’s doctoral diploma (for doctoral diplomas obtained outside of Taiwan academic certification from a Taiwanese diplomatic mission is required).
Copies of all doctoral dissertations, master’s theses, and other academic publications.
Transcripts from the candidate’s doctoral and master's degrees (those with teaching certificates are exempted from this requirement; those who obtained their degrees outside of Taiwan must also acquire academic certification of their transcripts from a Taiwanese diplomatic mission.)
A copy of the candidate’s teaching certificate if they hold one (if the candidate does not hold a teaching certificate this requirement will be waived).
A current CV.
A list of publications.
A research plan.
Copies of two or three syllabi for courses that the candidate could offer, at least one of which should be for a required general course of history.
One representative work (which may be the candidate’s PhD dissertation or another publication of the candidate’s choosing) with a Chinese abstract.
Candidates who do not hold a doctoral degree but have obtained a professorship must also submit a relevant academic publication or thesis, copies of any professorial certificates they hold, and any related works

After submitting your application, please confirm with the department’s administrative staff that your materials have been received. Please be aware that mailed USB drives and other materials cannot be returned.
In the second stage of the selection process, priority will be given to the arrangement of in-person interviews. If it is impossible for the candidate to attend in-person, the department may be able to arrange a video interview instead but this is not guaranteed. Also please be aware that travel expenses will not be reimbursed for candidates invited for interviews.
